Pike and San Isabel National Forest, After completing a long overnight hike to the summit of a 14,000 foot mountain (14er), I waited for the sunrise in hope of capturing this alpenglow on another nearby 14er.

Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests, Although I planned to capture this scene with a vibrant alpenglow, wildfire smoke had other ideas. Disappointed, I reluctantly captured one exposure before moving on. When I looked at the capture at home, I decided that I liked the mystic feel of the lake below a nearly opaque mountain.

While snowshoeing in a snowstorm I entered into this field that opened up this beautiful moody scene.

As a rather prolific rainstorm began to retreat, I noticed how the Maroon Bells began to come into my view. The longer I stood before these mountains, the better the light became before the sun eclipsed the horizon and the moody scene was over.

It was a blue bird day high in the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forest, but also a breezy one. When I came to a ridge above treeline, I noticed that I was not alone. A pair of skiers were skinning up to the summit of the Continental Divide before me. I really enjoyed how they provided scale in this divine, but moody scene.
